How Jaime Started to Expand the Conversation

First thing to know about me…

I hate talking about myself. That said, I firmly believe being open and honest are critical components to productive conversation. You may not always agree with what I have to say, but the better you know me and where I’m coming from, the more available you might be to engaging further in the conversation.

So here goes…

Professionally speaking, I started my career in economic consulting after studying math and economics at Northwestern University. I loved it, but made a career switch after earning my MBA from Duke, and spent the next 10+ years on the business side of the tech industry, diving into things like strategy, operations, biz dev, and partner alliances. I’ve enjoyed my time in the tech sector, working with some really bright, innovative, and inspiring individuals. Yet I’ve also noticed some issues and gaps that continue to pop up without any real change. The more I took notice of these, the more my interests started to shift. I began thinking about the things that were most important to me professionally – leadership, entrepreneurship, original ideas, and empowering women. To me, there were far too few voices being represented in each of these areas. And thus, the immediate goal became clear: I wanted to expand the conversation. The book, the videos, the articles – it’s all just a part of the broader discussion. By definition, I cannot do this alone. I want to engage and debate, share and inspire. All thoughts, ideas, and opinions are welcome.
